I am a photographer. I was born and raised in the Bay Area, California. I currently live in San Francisco.
Though I consider myself a documentary photographer, much of my practice adheres to the tenets of what many refer to as street photography. In my photo work, I like to notice the joyful scrambled into the absurd. I want my photography to be a historical record—not just a document of what I see, but also a document of myself: a map of my own perception and impulse. I use photography to explore what it is like to be inside of myself: what it is like to feel, to see, to think.
In my client practice, I photograph with the same senses through which I pursue my personal work. Despite the incorporeal nature of truth in the captured image, I seek to achieve authenticity and felicity in how I depict my clients. Photographs tend to reveal parts of ourselves that we may be unaware of or are surprised by. My goal is to reveal those parts gently, considerately, joyfully.
